Holistic Massage:

A holistic massage is an individual massage treatment that is specifically tailored to each client. A holistic massage is unique, following no fixed routine and focusing on more than just superficial aches and pains. In a session a wide range of massage techniques are used including gentle massage, stretches, relaxation work and deep tissue techniques. A holistic approach treats the body as a whole, taking into account a client’s emotional and spiritual wellbeing, as well as their physical body.’

I completed my Holistic Massage training with the Bristol College of Massage and Bodywork in 2012. I thoroughly enjoyed this training and saw the benefits that nurturing and deeply remedial touch can bring. I have observed that massage can greatly increase body awareness, enable deep relaxation and make space in the body by relieving tension.

Herbal Medicine

Herbal medicine can be used to treat current health conditions and can also help to promote wellbeing and contribute to the maintenance of good health. The intention of Herbal medicine is to treat the underlying cause of illness
while also managing the presenting symptoms. Herbs can be used alongside many conditions treated by your GP, and are safe, with a low occurrence of side effects. A herbal consultation may also involve diet and lifestyle advice
alongside Herbal medicine. Whole herb extracts are used in the form of tinctures, dried herbs, powders or topical preparations such as creams, ointments and balms. All preparations are individually blended to suit the
needs of each person. Outside of seeing patients on a one-one basis, my work as a Herbalist involves
working on the medical team at festivals offering conventional first aid alongside herbal treatment for a wide range of acute complaints. I am also involved with the project, Herbalists Without Borders Bristol, which provides access to Herbal Medicine for refugees and asylum seekers.

Commonly seen complaints in clinical practice:
•    Stress related illness: Anxiety, depression; sleep difficulties, fatigue, headaches and digestive complaints.
•    Hormonal problems: Painful or irregular menstruation, PMT, endometriosis, PCOS and menopausal symptoms.
•    Skin conditions: Eczema, psoriasis, acne, and fungal infections.
•    Digestive conditions: IBS, constipation, diarrhea, indigestion and bloating.
•    Circulatory issues: High blood pressure, poor circulation and headaches.
•    Acute infections: Colds, bronchitis, skin infections and urinary tract infections.

What to expect from a Herbal Medicine consultation:

The initial consultation will clarify the timescale for Herbal treatment, as this will largely depend on what is being presented. New onset, acute complaints may take less time to address than more chronic, longstanding complaints. A
follow up consultation will be scheduled for two weeks after the initial consultation.

A full case history will involve:

• Asking about your family’s medical history
• Discussing your diet and lifestyle
• Finding out about any medication or supplements you use
• Some routine examinations such as tongue diagnosis and taking blood pressure may be conducted.
• Herbal treatment plan and time scale

(All medicines will be available to collect the following week)

Testimonials:

Anna is a fantastic therapist, she's incredibly intuitive and always takes time to listen to my needs carefully. After my massage, my body feels settled and my energy refreshed and grounded. I would highly recommend Anna.  (Kate, Massage Therapist)

Anna’s calm and caring manner makes you feel totally at ease. She always creates a relaxed environment which enables you to totally switch off. I have had a number of massages with Anna over the years and always it is always a positive and nourishing experience. (Ruth, Mother)

Being around Anna I have a sense that she is very grounded in her own body. Her touch reflects this, with a very conscious, steady and rhythmic technique. Her movements seem to begin in her core, extending to her hands/ wrists/ forearms. Her strong posture seems to make a consistent pressure more sustainable and helps me to relax in the knowing that she isn’t hurting herself to help me. Her massage has a comforting quality that I have found very supportive - calming my nervous system and so supporting all the different cells in their regeneration or repair. A very wonderful thing.
 (Bridie, Acupuncturist)
